Sarah Shulze’s Law
UPDATE: AB 1985 (Sarah Shulze’s Law) has officially passed the California State Legislature and is now awaiting Governor Gavin Newsom’s signature to become law.
Championed by Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin, Sarah Shulze’s Law would require California collegiate coaches to complete student-athlete mental health and suicide prevention training — helping ensurecoaches are better equipped to recognize and support the mental health needs of their athletes.
We are incredibly grateful to Assemblymember Irwin and to everyonewho advocated, shared Sarah’s story, and helped bring this bill to thisimportant milestone.
Now, we await the Governor’s signature to officially make Sarah Shulze’s Law a California law.
